Due to the difficulties of obtaining credible fire training and technical support in Nigeria, the company requested the involvement of AB Fire Training.
Mr Alan Barraclough travelled to Nigeria and carried out various aspects of fire training i.e:
- Fire Awareness
- Correct use of Portable Fire Extinguishers
- Fire Warden Training
- Extinguisher Servicing Training
The company's initial concern was that this training would prove too much for some of the local staff as fire awareness is not an integral part of Nigerian culture. Nevertheless the doubts were soon dispelled as the course material was pitched to cover every level of the workforce. Feedback from all staff members was 100% positive with particular appreciation for the "hands on" segment of the course. As a result of the training it is clearly evident that there is an increased awareness among all personnel of the fire risks that surround them every day and a confidence to be able to react clearly and calmly in the event of an emergency.
The success of the course was so encouraging that the company has decided to structure a progressive training course which will be held annually in conjunction with our HS&E audit.
